What to wear

This session is all about you, so pick outfits that reflect you and your style. Keep in mind that if you are buying something new for your session, try it on and make sure it fits before your session. Move around, lift your arms, shrug your shoulders, bend over, walk, etc. to make sure as you move the outfit is comfortable and fits well. If the outfit does not properly fit, it will not photograph well and we would hate to have a wardrobe malfunction! It is always a good idea to bring one timeless outfit, something that when you look back at your pictures 10 years down the road you won't think "What was I thinking?" Trends change over time, so keep that in mind as you dress. Let mom pick at least one of the outfits, after all, she has raised you all of these years, so let her have her way with 1 outfit, the rest is all about you! One of the most important thing you can do is make sure your outfits are clean and wrinkle-free, stains and wrinkles do not photograph well. Lastly, gals wear a cami and spandex shorts under your outfit and guys wear compression shorts, that way quick outfit changes on the go are less awkward because sometimes you have to change in the car or at a remote location without a dressing room. Don't forget your jewelry & accessories!

Hair, Skin & Makeup

If you are getting a cut and/or color, do it at least a week before your session, you need a few days to get used to the cut and for it to fill in a little before pictures. It is best not to try a brand new look or style for your pictures. Styling your hair and make-up should be similar to your natural look, perhaps how you style it for for a night out. If you are normally not a makeup person, don't pick today to be the day you go extra bold with makeup. If you have some blemishes, lightly cover them with concealer, but don't cake it on. Use a nice night foundation for an even skin tone (this can apply for guys too!) Guys be sure you shave if you normally do not have facial hair, stubble does show up in pictures. Even if you have to shave right before your photo session, do it! Your mom does not want you to have 5 o'clock shadow in your pictures, and it is very expensive to digitally re-touch. If you normally sport facial hair, make sure it is freshly trimmed and groomed. Within a couple of weeks of your session it is not the time to start a new skin care regimen or new makeup. Your skin can react to new products and you don't want lots of break outs at session time. Along those lines do not overdo it with treating breakouts, somethings getting to aggressive can have the opposite effect and can cause more breakouts.

Be comfortable, be you!

We want you to be comfortable during your session so we can capture the real you! If you want to bring Mom or a friend along to help keep you relaxed. We don't mind an entourage, it makes things more fun. If you have favorite music, feel free to make a playlist, I have an iPod/Phone/MP3 dock at the studio, we can jam during the session if it helps to relax you. I love to have fun, so I will probably be chatting you up during your session to get to know you better and find those things that make you smile. Feel free to bring your own props along too! Most importantly, SPEAK UP, if you want something, tell me, if you have ideas tell me, if you have seen a picture you really want to recreate, tell me, if you don't like the way the session is headed, tell me. My goal is to give you the best experience possible so be sure to tell me what's on your mind!
